Port Talbot Satellite

Collaborative project completed
A collaborative project I've been working on with fellow artist William Robertson has recently been completed. We had previously discussed a shared appreciation of satellite and aerial photography and personally the work of photographer Edward Burtynsky. We decided to collaborate on four pieces using satellite pictures of the Tata Steelworks at Port Talbot in South Wales as reference. I had spent a few days there a couple of years ago to take photos. This gave me an opportunity to indulge in my enjoyment of industrial landscape, but this time from another angle. The collaboration gave me a place to play around with new materials and methods. With a shared approach and shared responsibility for the artwork, I also found the process quite liberating, with less expectations about how the final images should look.
Saying that, I was however very happy with the way they turned out.
